“Kitchen” means a habitable space within a dwelling unit used or intended to be used for cooking of food or preparation of meals. Kitchens are required to meet Building Department standards for habitability, including a sink, refrigerator and a cooking appliance, or the capabilities of supporting a cooking appliance such as a counter, electrical receptacle, or gas outlet any of which is in near proximity to the sink and refrigerator.
